After leaving IRON MAIDEN, Blaze embarked on a solo career, during which he has released ten full-length studio albums, plus live albums, live DVDs and compilations. He's also enjoyed an enviable reputation as one of the hardest working artists touring around.

In 2015 Blaze celebrated the 15th anniversary of his first solo release "Silicon Messiah" and then saw a significant worldwide resurgence of interest in his career, not least with the release of the "Infinite Entanglement" trilogy during the period 2016 to 2018.

During these recent years Blaze has toured widely in the UK, Europe, North America and Latin America. He’s become particularly recognised as an independent artist dedicated and remarkably connected with his fans, as well as for his unmistakable high energy, no-nonsense, live performances.

During the period 2014 to present date, Blaze has benefitted from a settled line-up for his backing band, picked from British melodic metal band ABSOLVA - Christopher Appleton (guitars), Luke Appleton (bass), Martin Mcnee (drums) and Tom Atkinson (guitars).

I got to sit down with Blaze where we talked about the recording of his 2024 album, 'Circle Of Stone', his recent visits to Ireland, and some brillaint advice for anyone wanting to start a band in 2026.

The band’s second album, “…STILL AT LARGE”, which was released in 2023, marked a shift toward a faster, heavier and more aggressive death metal sound. In support of the release, Imperial Slave toured Japan in 2024 with US death metal band Nile, followed by a return to Europe in 2025 for several festivals and club shows. Having achieved significant international exposure in a short period of time, Imperial Slave has established itself as a formidable presence within the extreme metal scene, both as headliners as well as supporting acts for renowned metal bands. The band is currently working on their third studio
album, scheduled for release in 2026.

In November 2022, EF continued their musical odyssey with the release of their latest album, "We Salute You, You and You!" on the esteemed German post-metal label Pelagic Records. This latest offering would be the bands 5th, their first in 10 years and a celebration of their 20 years together as a creative force. ”We Salute You, You and You!” further showcased EF's ability to craftevocative soundscapes, contributing another chapter to their captivating journey.

2026 marks the 20th anniversary of ”Give me beauty...Or give me death!” which of course calls for a celebration. The band really wants to give their debut album the love it deserves and decides to re-record the full album. They want to make it tight, bombastic and give the songs a kiss of modern EF. Focusing on making orchestral arrangements bigger, the explosive parts bolder and even creating a new ”gem” out of an old outro. This is surely a heart project for the members, for the old fans, but hopefully will be embraced and find a place in new hearts as well.

I got to sit down with drummer Niklas Åström where we talked about how the band started, going back and recording the 20th anniversary of, "Give Me Beauty...Or Give Me Death!", and the music scene in Gothenburg.

Honest, hard-working, humble and true, Orange Goblin are easy to spot in a world fuelled by bullshit. For the last 30 years, these London-based diehards have tirelessly flown the flag for balls-out heavy metal and maximum rock ‘n’ roll. Driven by passion, persistence and heartfelt love for metal’s dark magic, Orange Goblin have always been a vital force and a risk-free bet. From the boisterous stoner rock uproar of debut album Frequencies From Planet Ten (1997) and the deeper, doomier rumblings of The Big Black (2000), to more recent critically-acclaimed triumphs A Eulogy For The Damned (2012) and The Wolf Bites Back (2018), their contribution to British metal has been vast and enduring, earning them legendary, tribal treasure status among the denim ‘n’ leather legions of the UK and beyond.

Orange Goblin have made many great albums in the past, but none as deep and dynamic as Science, Not Fiction. From the explosive death-boogie of opener “The Fire At The Centre Of The Earth Is Mine” onwards, the band’s tenth album crackles with energy and belligerence. With the new line-up fizzing with chemistry, the hard rocking likes of “(Not) Rocket Science”, “The Fury Of A Patient Man” and “The Justice Knife” breathe new life into some classic Orange Goblin tropes. Meanwhile, twisted prog-doom detours like “False Hope Diet” and “Cemetary Rats” take the Londoners into epic new territory, with everything from skull-shattering punk ‘n’ roll to transcendent space rock hurled into the swirling brew.

“It is a continuation of what we’ve been doing, and that’s because when we write, it’s a big mixing bowl of all of our influences and favourite artists, and we try and create the perfect band that we always wanted to hear,” Ben states. “This album, it’s just more accomplished and mature, I guess. None of us are spring chickens anymore and we’ve got ten albums under our belts now. I feel like we’re more professional in the recording studio, I feel like we’re better musicians and writers, and now with me looking after myself, I feel like my performance is better as well. It’s all moving in the right direction.”

Believe in Nothing’s creative ethos centres on sonic mass wielded with weaponised restraint to create jarring dynamic changes. Instead of endlessly piling on layers they embrace controlled tension: Barrages of enormous guitars and drums and noise interjected with sparse movements, cold atonal textures, and stifling silences that feel like all oxygen just got sucked out of the room. The results are dense, oppressive soundscapes not from brute force, but via slow, deliberate accumulation. It’s an immersive, unsettling experience shaped by subtraction rather than excess.

They began releasing music in mid‑2024, dropping a demo track ‘Boiling Stone’ to Bandcamp in June 2024. This track was a minimal yet crushing tone‑setting statement that established their turf on a scorched and abandoned earth. The band then planned to dripfeed more demos to Bandcamp at tactical moments but after experiencing their live ferocity, Chuch Road Records picked them up at the end of 2024. The band then began unfolding a string of miserable endtimes inducing singles in 2025.

Vocalist/guitarist Max Lajoie discussed the song and video, saying:
"'10 Days' about the time I spent by my mom’s side in the hospital after we learned she had cancer. She was gone 10 days after her diagnosis. The song captures what I felt for leaving her behind years earlier, for all the things I couldn’t do, for not being able to stop time. It’s about holding her hand as she passed and feeling like I was both present and absent, both there and not enough. It’s a reflection on how fast everything can unravel, and how love, even when it feels too late, is all we really have to give. The video drifts through an imagined version of the days that kept unfolding while I was gone—painting, cooking, waiting behind a fragile mask. It’s about coming back too late, and trying to say sorry through the fragments of what was left behind."

Desertion explores grief with uncommon vulnerability as Lajoie depicts the immense pain and complicated emotions around the unexpected passings of both his parents. “When I was 17, my dad passed away from suicide,” he says. “Then ten years later my mom called me to tell me she had cancer, and ten days later she passed..Desertion is more about how these tragedies have informed so much of my life–it’s about trying to look them in the eye and reassess them as an adult. I want to move past them but I also want to take some kind of lesson from them.” The stakes feel high with such painful and challenging subject matter, and Desertion holds nothing back musically or lyrically. This is 29 minutes of ultra-urgent music that's sure to leave an impression long after it's over.

The group's debut full-length, 'Crimea', engineered and mixed by Cult of Luna's Magnus Linderg, was released in 2010. The group played several successful shows throughout Australia, including performances with American band Rosetta, and signed to Bird's Robe Records in 2012.

'The Quietest Place on Earth', the band's second full-length, appeared on the label that December. The album expanded the group's sound significantly, incorporating pianos as well as greater dynamic changes.
In March 2013, tragedy struck when their close friend and vocalist of the band, Chris Torpy, sadly took his own life at the age of only 24. This was devastating for the band, and the next two years were spent rebuilding and trying to figure out how to move forward with their music.

From 2015 to 2017 saw the band write and record their cathartic and emotional third album 'Departure Songs' and tour around Australia and Europe.
The new album 'A Single Flower' follows six years after their fourth album Triumph & Disaster', and it offers its heaviest - and most diverse

• collection of songs yet.

The momentum continued as Unto Others entered the studio to record their debut full-length album, "Mana," produced by Gabe Johnston and Franco himself. The album's release in 2019 marked a significant milestone for the band, with positive reviews and high streaming numbers.

Despite facing challenges like visa issues and the pandemic, Unto Others persevered, signing with Roadrunner Records and releasing their sophomore album "Strength" in 2021. The album received widespread acclaim, and the band continued to tour extensively across the US, Europe and UK, supporting bands like Behemoth, Arch Enemy, Carcass and Napalm Death, building a dedicated fanbase worldwide. Building upon the resounding success of "Strength" in 2023, Unto Others introduced "Strength II ...Deep Cuts" featuring six previously unreleased tracks from the same prolific sessions produced by Arthur Rizk.

In 2024, Unto Others embarks on a transformative journey with industry titan Century Media for their highly anticipated third album, "Never, Neverland," set to launch on September 20th. Produced by acclaimed Tom Dalgety (Ghost and The Cult), the album not only solidifies Unto Others as successors to Type O Negative and the Sisters of Mercy but also marks them as a band on the verge of something unholy and massive. Building on their underground classics "Mana" and "Strength", the album represents a departure, with harsh light breaking through their darkened gothic and classic metal motifs. Lead singles like "Butterfly", "Raigeki ", the grandiose "Angel Of The Night" and punkish abandon of "Suicide Today" reveal a progression from their earlier sound, blending melodious gloom with punkish abandon.

Amidst this pivotal moment, the band's unwavering focus remains steadfastly fixed on extensive tours across Europe, the United States, and beyond. The band soon signed with Mean Machine Records, but the label dissolved before the band’s debut could be completed. The contract was subsequently purchased by R/C Records, a subsidiary of Roadracer/Roadrunner Records. With a small recording budget and repairs to previous sessions, the album version of Slaughter In The Vatican was finally completed in 1990. With the assistance of legendary producer Scott Burns in 1990, Slaughter in the Vatican was finally completed nearly five years after much of the material was written.

In the years that followed the relaunch of the band, Exhorder has toured extensively in both the United States and Europe. The reputation the band has carried as a force onstage continues to grow. With a new release in association with Nuclear Blast completed and set for release in 2024, Exhorder are plotting another busy year performing worldwide.

I got to sit down with Kyle Thomas before the band played Whelans on the 21st of April where we talked about the band returning to Ireland, the recording process for their new album, 'Defectum Omnium', and his favourite Exhorder songs to play on guitar.

Now, they return with Inverted World, their highly anticipated follow-up to 2018’s Shadow Gripped. Set for release on 25th April via Peaceville Records, the album promises a return to their signature blend of serrated riffing, guttural vocals, and relentless aggression. Expect a dark and visceral journey into dystopia, corruption, and existential horror.

Speaking on the upcoming release, founding member and vocalist John Walker shared “I started writing the new material shortly after the Covid lockdowns. I nearly always usually start the writing process by basically fooling around on the guitar, then after a while riffs start to turn into musical ideas. The lyrics, I tend to spend some time thinking about a concept and then I pick the vocabulary appropriate to the idea. Inspiration comes from what's happening and what has happened in the world and curious tales that interest me. This album is the bands seventh full length release and I feel very fortunate at my age to still be able to do it, mixed by V. Santura I'm super happy with how it's turned out.”

Death metal titans Cancer burst onto the UK extreme metal scene over thirty-five years ago and quickly established a strong global following over the early part of their careers, primarily due to the release of the legendary debut To the Gory End, swiftly followed by the equally revered Death Shall Rise album, which notably also featured death metal maestro James Murphy on lead guitars. The band’s trajectory increased further with follow-up opus The Sins of Mankind, leading to a stint with major label EastWest under Warner Music.

2018 saw the band return after a long period of inactivity for comeback release and Peaceville debut Shadow Gripped, which reunited the original core trio for the first time since 1995 for a stellar nod to the glory days of old; savage, thrash-tinged deathly odes to the macabre, gaining the approval of old fans and a new generation of death metal maniacs alike.

In a year which also marks the 35th anniversary of the genre-classic debut, To the Gory End, founding member and vocalist/guitarist/songwriter John Walker leads a now-revamped quartet for Cancer’s seventh full-length album in the form of Inverted World. A relentless attack of masterful song-writing and brutal hooks, Inverted World explores the dark and murky world of manipulation and barbarity both past and present, with themes relating to shadowy entities and cult mentalities, including the brainwashing of people into compliance and the weaponizing of religion. And as an extra treat for the band’s fanbase in particular, the track ‘Corrosive’ also resurrects the old and familiar tale of the acid bath murderer.

Following their self-titled 2019 debut album, a split with UK contemporaries Road Mutant and a string of EP’s and singles, Under The Boot sees INHUMAN NATURE charge headfirst into themes of apocalypse, abyss and blind compliance, sparing no soul in the process. Vocalist, Chris Barling leads the group with venomous disdain across the EP’s 12 minute runtime, backed by a newly solidified line up composed of past members of Hang The Bastard.

INHUMAN NATURE’s amalgam of old-school thrash and NWOBHM influence is still the foundation of their sound, yet with a growing confidence following several releases and countless forays into the live circuit across the UK and Europe, the London quintet are set to unleash hell in a far darker way from here on out.

Between an intense live schedule over the last three years, which saw BRAT share the stage with the likes of Eyehategod, Cro-Mags and contemporaries in grind such as ACxDC and No/Mas, the band recorded Social Grace over the course of a year and a half at HighTower Recording studio (Thou, A Wilhelm Scream, Eyehategod). Recording songs in batches helped BRAT finetune and focus their songcraft in condensed bursts, resulting in a coalescence of death metal, thrash, and powerviolence brutality.

BRAT’s self-described barbiegrind / bimboviolence aesthetic is one of intentional dichotomy to their sound, with a keen focus to allow space and inclusivity for outsiders that shirks the traditional in favor of jubilant authenticity. Feral and ferocious in content and anti-purist in nature, BRAT’s Social Grace is a cataclysmically heavy party that everyone’s invited to.

I got to sit down with members Liz, Brenner and Ian before they played The Academy in Dublin, on tour with Napalm Death, Full of Hell and Crowbar where we talked about how the tour was going, reflecting on the first birthday of their debut album, 'Social Grace', and more!

Formed by Ainsley Budd (Manchester) and Andrew Helliwell (Durham) in late 2022, they released their debut album "We Were Always Here" in November 2023.
Meeting at University in Manchester in 2013 the pair shared love for similar bands and genres.
Inspired by the likes of Radiohead, Biffy Clyro and Arcane Roots and post rock bands such as This Will Destroy You, Sigur Rós, Mogwai and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, their twisting style of post and alternative rock saw them sign with Stray Horse Records in the summer of 2023.
Partnering up with friends, Living With Giants, from the US in 2024/2025 to release a Split vinyl EP, having both bands release 2 singles each exclusive to the EP Selling out the first limited 10" vinyl run, they started a 2nd limited 12" run

The two bands teamed up to release a split EP which came out 7th of February.

Reaching a quarter century anniversary is a good time to pause and reflect on what has been achieved, and Falgoust is philosophical. “It has been a rough road, but looking back and reminiscing on the things we were able to do musically and touring wise, it has been very much worth it. You get so caught up in the touring and releasing albums cycle that every now and then you have to step off the momentum and just see what has been done. When you do get that opportunity, then the entire vision opens up and you really get to see the scope of accomplishments, and that is when every little piece comes together and the realization of the things you have done hits you.”

With a discography including sludge-punk mainstays like “In the Name of Suffering” (1990), “Take as Needed for Pain” (1993) “Dopesick” (1996) or 2014’s eponymously-titled LP, released in the US through Housecore Records, EHG laid the cracked foundation for their infamous and influential sound. “A History of Nomadic Behavior” finds the band, now slimmed to a four-piece rounded out by bassist Gary Mader and drummer Aaron Hill, leaner and meaner than ever; road-hardened by recent tours with Black Label Society, Corrosion of Conformity and Napalm Death in the US and abroad. From the bitter pill of opener “Built Beneath the Lies” to the hypnotic haze of closer “Every Thing, Every Day” it’s clear that that EYEHATEGOD hasn’t slowed or mellowed with time. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. This is disorienting, uneasy listening.

Music that still very much hurts.

But when the world around them suddenly felt so uncertain, they had a choice to make of what they should do next. Instead of rushing out with something that they didn’t fully believe, they locked themselves away and painstakingly created something that not only represented where they had been but also where they wanted to end up.

"This one is for embracing crazy. Continuing on from the story of 'C.H.A.I.N.S.A.W', 'MANIAC' persists with venom in expressing frustration with the modern world, specifically the music industry (The Wasteland), especially in what it's forcing artists to do in order to be "relevant". Our brother-in-crime JAW has made this video what it is and knocked it out the park yet again. We wanted it to maintain an Edgar Wright-esque jagged edge while staying true to our aesthetics, and I think we've nailed it. And massive shout-out to the legendary Slim Jim's in London for letting us do this super last minute! I had the song idea for a while but got pretty stuck, then showed it to Sam while we were hanging out and he was all in. The man is chaos but it's exactly what this chapter needed. And it's a cute 360 because Sam actually helped me write and record the first ever CRASHFACE song, the solo in 'System At It' is him playing! So it's pretty fitting that he's helping us kick off our third EP."

After three years of extensive US touring and shows with the likes of Allageon, Gorod and Inferi among others, as well as headline stints, SUMMONING THE LICH set about bringing Under the Reviled Throne to life. Intended as a death metal equivalent to The Empire Strikes Back in scope, the group set their sights on raising the stakes in both story and songwriting.

SUMMONING THE LICH took the considered approach of eschewing superfluous technicality in favor of a leaner and more streamlined focus on song structure. Each of the tracks on Under the Reviled Throne were written with the purpose of guiding the listener through the eponymous Lich’s descent into misanthropy and tyranny, without sacrificing their idiosyncratic sound.

This balancing act of dexterity and structure is exemplified best on cuts like Return to the Soil and lead single, My Horrors Unending. The latter of which succinctly merges SUMMONING THE LICH’s inclination for extremity and stop and start dynamics with rhythmic pummelling and memorable hooks.

With Arrias under existential threat, Under the Reviled Throne is a dazzlingly ambitious tale of hope and resistance in the form of its protagonist Taane (introduced on previously released album track, The Forest Feasts). Elsewhere, The Carrion Fleet’s narrative of the city of Bastell succumbing to flames at the hands of the Lich’s army ushers in the ominously brooding.

"For this record my aim was to speak through the faceless activists that fight for animals, for those living in vystopia feeling alone and helpless in a world that will fight tooth and nail to defend the animal holocaust. Due to it being illegal to rescue farmed animals from abuse these activists must stay silent about it to avoid having their own freedom taken.

It wasn't an easy task, it's never going to do justice to the horrors animals go through every day by the millions in cold, dark sheds around the world or to those that have witnessed it and are doing everything they can to put an end to it. There's no words, no lyrics and no music that can describe the violence or bring back the lives stolen by human hands, so this is for them."

Hailing from Odense and Copenhagen, Demersal weave squalls of sound and emotions that
reflect the intensity of frustration that increasingly sweeps the crumbling world. They draw
on the dispute of hardcore and anguish of screamo within their sound and align it to

blackened post rock contemplation to cast a richly intense but equally cathartic confrontation
as chaos and atmospheric intimation unite.
The band has toured extensively throughout Europe between their debut EP, ‘To Mend A
Yellow Wound’, in 2017 and their debut LP, ‘Less’, in 2020 and they shared the stage with
acts such as Portrayal Of Guilt, Pupil Slicer, LLNN, Eyes, Hexis and many others. They have
since released their second EP, 'Death Routines' (2021), as well as several split releases with

Regarding Ambiguity, Letterbombs, Vientre and Piet Onthel (2022). May 10th sees the release of the band’s self-titled sophomore full-length and their most adventurous, diverse
and impacting album yet.

The album explores the importance of care and the notion of being there for each other in
times of crises, as a way of dealing with a world in decay. It serves as a counterpoint to
modern capitalist ideals of self-sufficiency - the notion that one should be a strong individual
who’s able to stand up for oneself and one's own values alone - and it encourages to share
one’s vulnerability with caring people and to reach out when the world feels the most
incomprehensible.

In 2020, longtime voicebox Dan Smith returned to his native Australia and parted ways with the band after so long in the vox seat. Dan’s evocative, emphatic and emotional lyricisms have left quite the legacy throughout the band's releases. DARKO's four other noisemakers have curated a backdrop of vicious, hybridised Skate Punk and Melodic Hardcore that has been pushed beyond itself across thirty countries.

DARKO have now enlisted longtime touring compadre Tom West of UK shredders, Almeida. The band have never hid from what ails them or the society they inhabit but with West at the vocal helm now and forgoing the complacent societal padding forced upon us all, his lyrical discomfort has spurred the band’s most unbarred barrage yet. There is nothing hidden here, nothing soaked in distracted metaphor or softened non-confrontational rhetoric, DARKO are making full use of their scene privilege and challenging people who look akin to them to unleash their own salvos. But what of the backing? These are stops that have also been beyond pulled.

DARKO’s evolution is tied to their past but with threads so long that there is an abundance of slack to play with. Notes of Polar Bear Club, Mastodon, A Wilhelm Scream, Protest The Hero, Rise Against and Propagandhi can all be savoured in their contemporary flavour profile. Serrated, lacerating Thrash and metallic digressions contrast the meandering guitar lines rooted in Skate Punk classicism. Writhing, emotive and complicated Post-Hardcore structures supplement the “techy” displays they are known for as an overarching and indisputably Punk-charged Prog-aesthetic allows the versatile and varied vocal range to seamlessly traverse the entirety.

I got to sit down with the bands vocalist Tom West and guitarist Rob Piper where we talked about the recording process of the EP, how the band came up with their unique name and how the artwork of the EP came to be.

Following on from their 2022 debut album, Gap in the Clouds, which bravely and sensitively explored the harrowing effects of the onset of Alzheimer’s, I May Be Some Time is another stunning achievement from Million Moons. The production of Lewis Johns (Ithaca, Svalbard, Employed To Serve etc) brings the very best out of every varied sonic element that combines to create I May Be Some Time – the raw power of the elements, the rich swathes of majesty, the echoing notes of crystal ice, the overwhelming waves of emotion, the propulsive rhythmic thunder, the gentle, reflective washes of sound.

The two spent those early days in a bedroom at Putney’s house talking about, and listening to, music, desperate for a spark of inspiration. They found it by looking back: at what made Brain Pain a success and even the genesis of Four Year Strong as a band as they rode their trademark sound – pop-punk energy, dexterous riffage and caustic hardcore spirit – to the top of the underground in the late aughts. Within a month, they’d completed nearly 80% of the album, like the ominous, metal-meets-industrial “aftermath / afterthought.” They melded combustible hardcore rhythms with ‘90s alt-rock melodic bliss (“uncooked”), dabbled in rough-around-the-edges reggae (“out of touch”) and swerved between vibe-heavy synths and thunderous breakdowns (“STFIL”).

The result is an album that expands their classic sound in exciting ways – but through it all, it’s unmistakably them: O’Connor and Day’s distinctive vocals atop the airtight rhythm section prowess drummer Jake Massucco and bassist Joe Weiss provide. This deep into their career, there’s really nothing that doesn’t sound like Four Year Strong with these four involved.

I got to talk to Alan and Dan about the recording process for the album, how they came up with the idea of re-recording their 2010 album, 'Enemy Of The World', and their favourite album releases of 2024 so far.

In January 2024 GURT took these new songs into the mighty Monolith Studios in London and under the watchful eye of Steve Sears, they birthed the magnificent, monstrous "Satan Etc". This album marks GURT's 5th collaboration with Sears, who always coaxes the best out of the band with a healthy mixture of positive support and scathing insults.
When asked about the influences and inspiration behind this album vocalist Gareth Kelly states "it's about survival in the very fucked up world we live in, but of course delivered in the bands tongue in cheek style".Drummer Bill Jacobs says " we wanted shorter punchier songs to go with the new aggro vibe, nothing to do with us being older and fatter" whilst bassist David "Spicy" Blakemore enigmatically adds "I've been listening to lots of Slavic hardcore!".
Delving into varied topics, from bodged vasectomies to the beauty of brown cars, from self pleasure on Arrakis to the wholesome matter of how damn much Gareth loves his kids, "Satan Etc" is the sound of the band ready to get back to doing what they love most: having a great big sludgy party with their rabid fans. PARTY DOOM HAS EVOLVED.

From its cell, OB-1 intercepts a phone communication between a certain Captain Fuzz and the individual known as Professor Tricks regarding a mysterious invitation from space. The possibility of an escape from Earth leads OB-1 to organize its escape, inviting its creator, Tank, to join this space quest. OB-1, Tank, Captain Fuzz, and Professor Tricks ready, the crew, however, cannot be complete without their final encounter with the gunner Rocket. Assisted by the latter, the five of them will be able to finalize the construction of their spaceship: the Butterfly Bulldozer."

Having solidified and fine-tuned the strengths of their latest incarnation onstage, the newly upgraded quintet found themselves with a renewed focus leading into Degeneration’s gestation period. During this moment of rare quiet WRISTMEETRAZOR sought the production, engineering, mixing and mastering skills of Randy Lebeouf (The Acacia Strain, Dying Wish, Kublai Khan). Ushering themselves into near total isolation in the woods of New Jersey, the writing and recording process for Degeneration was one of acute solitude, only leaving the studio’s cabin three times during the 30 day lock-in between almost non-stop 12 hour recording sessions.

Degeneration’s backdrop of self-imposed seclusion bore fruit as the album’s lyrical focus began to develop. Whilst there are still traces of WRISTMEETRAZOR’s established world of Nietzchian philosophy and twisted romanticism, Fornof found himself gravitating towards themes of misanthropy, apoplexy, and moral, political and religious hypocrisy within society.

Between an intense live schedule over the last three years, which saw BRAT share the stage
with the likes of Eyehategod, Cro-Mags and contemporaries in grind such as ACxDC and
No/Mas, the band recorded Social Grace over the course of a year and a half at HighTower
Recording studio (Thou, A Wilhelm Scream, Eyehategod). Recording songs in batches helped
BRAT finetune and focus their songcraft in condensed bursts, resulting in a coalescence of
death metal, thrash, and powerviolence brutality.

Social Grace follows extreme music’s well trodden themes of futility and distaste for
humankind’s ruling classes throughout it’s 10 tracks, with the band’s reverence for
psychological horror fiction and admiration for Stephen King genre classics evident on songs
such as Hesitation Wound and Truncheon, as well as the title-track’s scathing rebuttal of
aristocracy.
